Meet Laura Atencio, the Founder & Creative Director

Laura is a full-time photographer and marketing professional. She founded ALURA Digital in November of 2024 then shortly after founded Shy Girl Collective in December 2024, & Level Up Latinas in April 2025.

Laura was born and raised in Miami, FL, where she picked up her first camera in high school. She carried this camera throughout her teenage years and into adulthood when she moved to St. Louis, MO at 18 years old. During her 8 years in Missouri she upgraded her point-and-shoot Coolpix to a Cannon T5 and became obsessed with landscape, macro, and nature photography. COVID-19 unfortunately caused her to have to sell her equipment, however she quickly realized her love for photography was still alive years later while working in a luxury high-rise building in Ballpark Village, St. Louis, MO- she was constantly taking and editing photos with her lates Samsung Note Ultra (even putting it underwater to capture unique poolside clips overlooking the Cardinals Stadium).

Once Laura moved to Denver, Colorado in 2022 she made it her mission to reconnect with photography and embarked on a year-long mission to identify what camera body to commit to for the next years.... and what she discovered was a love for the Sony camera lineup. During her two years in Denver, CO Laura practiced shooting and styling human subjects, small businesses, pets, and of course more nature and landscape shots.

Fast-forward to 2025, Laura finds herself happily engaged and living in Kirkland, Washington with her three (soon-to-be four) cats, enjoying her passion as her full-time career. Laura has worked on projects world-wide, including London, Ibiza, Rome, Dubai, and Nationwide in the United States. She currently shoots a wide variety of styles including, but not limited to, styled portraits, product, food, events, corporate, and custom shoots specifically for small businesses.
